Las prótesis de silicona han venido a dar respuesta al deseo eterno y lógico de los pacientes de “completarse”. Si bien las mismas ayudan a disimular una gran variedad de tipo de lesiones, es importante no perder de vista que es primordial el manejo de la lesión cutánea original.
Tras una lesión podemos tener un compromiso funcional y/o estético, por lo que es prioritario tratar las lesiones cicatrizales exhaustivamente antes de tomar un decisión protésica. Como sabemos, es importante situar la lesión en sus distintas etapas cronológicas y tomar decisiones en base a eso. Lograr indemnidad cutánea, flexibilidad, maduración y modelación (en el caso de las amputaciones) es indispensable antes de protetizar.
Respire, confíe, la rehabilitación es un proceso y hacerlo bien es indispensable para el éxito del mismo. Mientras, aléjese de fuentes calóricas y lumínicas, use ropa con filtro UV, un buen bloqueador solar y no use ningún medicamento o crema que no le haya sido recetado por su médico tratante.
